Today is my day off! It felt so good to sleep in late but when I woke up I was excited to delve into my new Barnes and Noble purchases I picked up on break last night at work. I got a lovely hand made journal (even the paper is handmade!) way too expensive but amazing Sharpie pens and Palo Alto by James Franco. I am already in love with this book and not just because I am in love with James Franco. It's a collection of short stories and each one is powerful and dark so far. Go pick it up kids, just sayin'. I also feel really good journaling again. I haven't in months and I felt clogged up with things I should have said, ideas I never fleshed out, and thoughts I never penned to the page. I feel an immense relief to be writing again. I was starting to get caught up in the mundane routine of school and work and I wasn't taking any time to check in with myself which really wears on you after awhile.
Hand clap moment: I'm really impressed that I took photos for this entry, it made me remember how much creativity used to stem from sharing my life with all of you and I'm glad to be blogging again!
Sidenote: It's ridiculous how many Tumblr replica tattoos I am seeing around. It makes me not want to get the dream catcher I was planning as my first tattoo. It does mean something special to me but I don't want to look like a generic Tumblr hipster ya know? But I guess not partaking in an effort to appear cool is basically being a pretentious hispter anyways!
Things I really want to do this year:
-Go to a music festival and look like Emma Watson at a music festival the entire time.
-Learn how to play the guitar. I say this every year and I never even try!
-Get myself back on track. I've kind of become one of those aimless college kids who is too concerned with having a good time than doing something productive for their future : / I should get an internship or something I suppose to look like I'm doing something.
-Not randomly stop blogging for months! It sucked!

So I'm sitting in a hotel room in San Antonio with my family, watching late night talk shows, and wandering aimlessly through the Internet when I see that you've posted again and say, "KAIT BLOGGED AGAIN?! IS THIS REAL LIFE?!" And then I received weird looks from my mother and sister which were ignored.
Anyway.
I love collections of short stories. Love love love. So I shall have to pick up Palo Alto. If you like short stories in general, you should pick up Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs if you haven't already. I adore it.
And I haven't written in my journal like I used to either and it's been bothering me, but I just haven't picked it up. You talking about it makes me want to get it right now though!
I get what you're saying about the "generic Tumblr tattoos," but I say that if it still means something to you then you should just ignore that and get it anyway! I think it sounds like a beautiful tattoo.
late addition to your blog and must say i'm a fan (;
defs going to try see if I can check that book out. haven't read a book in about a month!

I will add that book to my list. And, the book that Maggie suggested to you, she also suggested to me, and I'm currently reading it, and it is quite good. And oh goodness, writing again after so long an absence does feel so wonderful, doesn't it? Almost as wonderful as being the person reading what you're writing (at least in what you've blogged). Pretty please don't disappear for multiple months again. :)
Ugh, Barnes & Noble brings out the worst in me. I am a major stationary fiend, and I'm always coaxed into buying something from the stationary section. I think my worst buy is either an ink quill holder (I don't even own an ink quill to put in my holder) or a personal library kit (I bought it for the date stamper...). I really want to buy a sketchbook, though. Barnes & Noble has a collection of sketchbooks that have extremely pretty colors... Wait... Shit... Never mind...
But, I look out for Palo Alto. I'm always looking for books to add to my summer reading!
Ugh, I can definitely relate with your last point, but that just means that we're bigger and better than ever before!
HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL, why am I not getting your updates on my blog reel!?
Seriously, I'm still wondering how that happened. I can't be that oblivious, can I?
The book is being added to my to-read list, for sure.
Yeah, so, welcome back, dear. I am in agreement with everyone else, you can't vanish on us! We missed you too much.
P.S. I would really love sending you a package. :)
P.P.S. My word verification is "unchi". Is it trying to tell me something?
More Kait! So Happy!
I wasn't even aware that James Franco wrote a book. What hasn't that man done? I'll have to look into it.
The journal is lovely.
I feel like one of those college kids sometimes, but more in a "what-direction-am-i-going-in-again" ways. Nothing is ever final in my life 'til the last minute. Hopefully that'll change soon, but for now I have to live with it. And it's crazy.
woaaa. i didn't know james franco wrote a book!! wow. wow. that is cute interesting & i am very curious to see what it is like.
